The AOL Phonetic Alphabet

You must have heard your airline ticket booking agent call out your PNR number using words like S for SUGAR, Y for YANKEE, etc. While we were on our way back the YES!+ Huddle we had in Murud, we had sailor Shibani in our car. An interesting discussion about the phonetics sailors use, ensued and Dineshda suggested that we must have an Art of Living list too.

In the world of Aviation, there is a different way of learning your ABC's. The Phonetic Alphabet is not only used by the military, but also by Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers, and Customer Service Agents within the Airlines. It is a great way to make sure you are understood (since a B, P, T, and V sound hauntingly similar when spoken), and an appropriate introduction to Aviation Lingo. The letters and their corresponding words for you.

  • B - Bravo
  • C - Charlie
  • D - Delta
  • E - Echo
  • F - Foxtrot
  • G - Golf
  • H - Hotel
  • I - India
  • J - Juliet
  • K - Kilo
  • L - Lima

Shyam mila de...Radhe Radhe :)

We have a very famous bhajan in The Art of Living. "Nikunj me biraaje Ghanshyam Radhe Radhe", a song from the KRISHNA album. The lyrics of this song give such wonderful knowledge. The song says, "Nikunj me biraaje Ghanshyam Radhe Radhe,  Ghanshyam Radhe Radhe tu Shyam se mila de,  Radhe Radhe, Shyam mila de,  Shyam mila de, Radhe Radhe" Meaning: The 'Best' way to get to the man is through his girlfriend/wife.
